Statement of Faith

The "5 Solas" are statements that summarise some of our most dearly held, key theological convictions regarding what the Bible teaches.

Regarding Salvation:

  • Sola Gratia: Salvation is by grace alone
  • Solus Christus: Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone
  • Sola Fide: Salvation is by faith alone

We are all sinners who deserve God's punishment and there is nothing we can do to save ourselves. But God sent His Son, Jesus to be our Saviour! Jesus earned our salvation by His perfect life on earth, and by His death on the cross in our place. Our salvation is based 100% on Jesus! There is nothing we do to earn it - it is 100% by God's grace! There is only one way to be saved: by placing faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross in our place.

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ~Romans 5:8

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son [Jesus Christ], that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” ~John 3:16

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin [Jesus Christ], so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” ~2 Corinthians 5:21

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” ~Ephesians 2:8-9

Regarding Truth:

  • Sola Scriptura: Our authority is Scripture (the Bible) alone.

God has given us His Word, the Bible. It teaches us everything we need to know about God, salvation, and living a life pleasing to God. Everything in the Bible is true and carries God's authority and as a result, is our final and ultimate authority as a church.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." ~2 Timothy 3:16-17

Regarding the Purpose of Life:

  • Soli Deo Gloria: Glory to God alone!

We have a great and glorious God, who is worthy of all our worship: for His power and perfections, for His sinless and holy character, for the life He has given us, for all the amazing things He has created, for the wise ways He rules over everything for good, and for the gracious salvation He has made possible for us at great cost to Himself.  The whole purpose of our lives as individuals and as a church is to glorify Him.

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” ~ Isaiah 6:3

"For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen." ~ Romans 11:36

"Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honour and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honour and glory and might for ever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshipped.”~ Revelation 5:11-14

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." ~ 1 Corinthians 10:31
